Reflections on six decades of living with insulin-treated diabetes
Jeanne Wright has lived with insulin-treated diabetes for 61 years. Although informed at diagnosis that her life was likely to be shortened due to the condition, she went on to forge a career in artistic display that eventually took her to London. Here she came under the care of Dr Arnold Bloom, who undertook shared responsibility for the successful outcomes of three pregnancies. Today, at age 78, Jeanne is independent, energetic, positive and very active in her local church. Recent bilateral cataract extractions have enabled her to read normal print without glasses once more.
